There
are many reasons why we sometimes feel "bogged
down" by the weight of our responsibilities. We
could be having trouble at home. Our health may be suffering
from stress. We may be frustrated because our goals
might not be getting met. Whatever is causing us stress,
it can be a very distracting and uncomfortable condition
to endure. Here are six simple steps you can take to
get yourself out of a "funk."
1) Discipline
yourself. Self-discipline is thinking first about the
consequences, taking the appropriate action, and feeling
great about doing the right thing once it is done. Feeling
that you have taken the care to act correctly will alleviate
a sense of guilt and energize you with enthusiasm.
2)
Remember how you impact others. The true measure of
your success is the difference that you make in other
people's lives. Financial gain is a hollow, impersonal
gauge of success. By doing your best to help others
you will notice the more tangible rewards of interpersonal
success. Plus, if you are truly making an effort to
help others, the financial rewards will come automatically.
3)
Don't belittle yourself. It's easy to get caught up
in the negative aspects of your life: what you're doing
wrong, the seemingly overwhelming obstacles in front
of you, etc. You should avoid this at all cost. Each
day focus on and write down three actions you've taken
that have had a positive impact on your business and
personal relationships. Focus on these positives instead
of the negative aspects in your life.
4)
Read books by successful people. The importance of reading
is that it not only develops your logic and understanding,
but it also develops your verbal skills and gives you
exposure to new ideas that you can use to build your
business and your relationships.
5)
Focus on long-term goals. Don't allow yourself to be
dragged down by the short-term happenings. Instead,
look to what you value for the future. Take the time
to renew your goals weekly so that you're focused on
the long-term and there is not as much impact from the
negative things that happen in the short-term.
6)
Manage yourself wisely. Get excited about what you are
doing. Put in the effort to get where you want to be,
not just enough to justify where you are now.
These suggestions may not always seem practical, or
even possible. But if you make an effort to incorporate
these strategies into your everyday life, you will make
noticeable advancement toward self-actualization.
